Johnson & Johnson released data showing a booster dose of its one-shot COVID-19 vaccine generates a stronger immune response and a robust increase in antibodies. According to data from the pharmaceutical company, the extra shot provides 94% protection against the virus months after people receive the first dose. The results of the study have not been peer-reviewed but Johnson & Johnson officials submitted the data to regulators, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In New Jersey, nearly 440,000 people have gotten Johnson & Johnson’s shot. Out of the nearly 5.8 million who are fully vaccinated, only about 8% received their shot from Johnson & Johnson. Rutgers University professor of medicine and infectious disease, Dr. Martin Blaser, shares more on what this new data means. To watch the full interview.
