Since April 2025, the Rutgers Center for Recovery & Wellbeing (RCRW), located in the heart of Plainfield, has been steadily offering outpatient (OP) services to adults seeking recovery from substance use and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. OP care provides flexible, scheduled treatment for individuals stable enough to manage recovery while living at home, including individual therapy, group sessions, medication management, and recovery planning.
In the coming weeks, RCRW will also launch intensive outpatient (IOP) services—ideal for those needing more structured support without residential care. IOP includes up to 9 hours per week of therapy, group sessions, and enhanced therapeutic engagement, helping participants build momentum in recovery while managing other daily responsibilities.
“We believe hope and recovery are not only possible—they’re happening right here in Plainfield,” said Jorge Santamaria, senior marketing and communications coordinator, Rutgers UBHC, Addiction Services. “We’re helping people reclaim their lives with dignity, in a space that’s judgment-free, healing-centered, and grounded in proven clinical care.” To read the full story.
