In what could represent a major advance in the fight against coronavirus, a Rutgers University research lab says it has developed a new test using existing automated technology able to analyze tens of thousands of patient samples each day to detect COVID-19. At the same time, RUCDR Infinite Biologics — a unit of Rutgers’ Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey — submitted an emergency use authorization request for a saliva collection method that would allow for far broader screening than what is now even possible.
