This summer, five Rutgers students successfully completed research projects utilizing advanced machine learning, generative AI, and electronic health record (EHR) data resources supported by NJ ACTS, including the Clinical Research Data Warehouse (CRDW), MIMIC datasets, and Rutgers’ Amarel high-performance computing environment.
Two student projects have been accepted for presentation at the prestigious 2026 American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium in Dallas, where their abstracts will also be published in the conference proceedings, which are indexed in PubMed. Rutgers undergraduate student Anjali Rajesh will present Ensemble Modeling for Predicting Hypertension-Related Comorbidities Using EHR Data, while doctoral student Xenia Liu will present Probabilistic Forecasting of Longitudinal Clinical Event Trajectories in Hypertensive Patients Using Medical Transformers-Based Generative Adversarial Networks.
Joseph Chavarria will present his poster at the RISE (Research Intensive Summer Experience) Symposium. Sritama Ghosh and Shariq Abdul Aziz will present their work at the Rutgers BMI HAI Summer Internship Symposium.
Branimir Ljubic, PhD, MD serves as a Co-Lead for NJ ACTS Informatics Core and as a mentor for the summer AI Internships.
