RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, are opening New Jersey’s first freestanding cancer hospital next month.
The Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, scheduled to open in May in New Brunswick, is a 12-story, 520,000 square foot facility located on the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital campus that specializes in cancer and only serves those patients. The cancer center and general acute care hospital, located across the street from one another, are connected by a skybridge.
Currently, cancer patients in New Jersey have to travel to New York or Pennsylvania if they want to go to a freestanding cancer hospital that focuses entirely on cancer, often traveling multiple times a week to receive treatment that guarantees them the best outcome. To read the full story.
