Translational Science ASCENT Badge

ASCENT Badge

Earners of this badge have demonstrated an understanding of foundational knowledge, responsibilities, and tasks essential to the field of translational science. This digital badge is awarded by New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS) for Fellows of the T32 ASCENT training grant program. This badge recognizes the successful completion of a prestigious fellowship program’s innovative, asynchronous online curriculum delivered through Canvas.

Through engagement with faculty lectures, peer-reviewed articles, interactive modules, discussion boards, and knowledge checks, earners have acquired and demonstrated practical and theoretical knowledge across critical domains of translational science. These include clinical research, public and population health, qualitative and quantitative research methods, emerging technologies, and the translation of scientific discoveries into real-world applications.

This badge signifies the recipient’s commitment to advancing science and improving health outcomes by bridging research and practice. It also reflects their ability to apply interdisciplinary methods and perspectives to complex health challenges.

Measurable Learning Outcomes:

  • Clinical Research: Demonstrate an understanding of clinical research design, implementation, and ethical considerations in human subject studies.
  • Population and Public Health: Analyze health determinants and apply public health principles to address population-level challenges and disparities.
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches: Apply appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods to collect, analyze, and interpret data relevant to translational science.
  • Emerging Technologies: Evaluate the role and potential impact of emerging technologies in advancing health research and healthcare delivery.
  • From Discovery to Marketplace: Describe the process of translating scientific discoveries into practical applications, including commercialization, regulatory pathways, and stakeholder engagement.

This digital badge serves as a microcredential validating the earner’s preparedness to contribute to and lead translational science initiatives within academic, clinical, public health, and industry settings.
